Set out for 5 came home after 7 :-)

Hi everyone!

I had a great run today. I set out to do a 5k run and came back feeling rather accomplished after completing a 7. It was 9 degrees out today and the sun what shining. I didn't want to stop. In fact I even felt like I could go further after my 7, but came home.

The run was a little challenging because I had slushy snow, ice patches and snow banks to deal with as it's only been warm for a few days and we still have ALOT of snow on the ground. Time didn't matter to me today, I was going for distance and it just felt good to run outside rather than on the blasted treadmill :-)

After my mid day run, I did some work around the house and had dinner:

slow cooked roast beef, oven roasted potatoes and coleslaw.. I buy the pre-shredded coleslaw and add a dab of ranch dressing for flavour. I dislike the high calorie store bought probably because I HATE mayo! Either way dinner hit the spot after my run.

On Tuesday I am starting a twice a week class at a community centre. A bunch of girls get together and do an hour workout twice a week. I can't tell you how excited I am, being the cardio queen I am a little nervous and anxious about learning new things. Maybe I'll finally be able to master a push up :-)

My posting may be a little on the light side this week, we have a house guest as well as my baby turns 3 this week. I have a party to plan, hoping to get a few more runs in while it's warm. So my posting may be all over the place, but I will try to post when I can!

Glad you could get outside to run today Syl. It was very nice. I sat on my deck this afternoon in my shorts and bare feet. My thermometer read 15 out there... out of the wind and just nice and sunny. Only here can you get this kind of crazy weather :)

I love those runs where you feel you can go on and on forever...so pleased you enjoyed yours.
I did a 4kl walk and one kl run on treadmill yesterday, felt good - could have done more but my mind knows I have to take it slow to begin with.

Your baby turns 3!!!!!!!!! love that age...so adorable.

Are u presenting the fitness classes or participating in them??

I would have thought you could already do a push up  I tried a whole one yesterday and I couldn't, just couldn't so I ended up doing them from the knee but I keep on working on it: one day I will.

Sounds like a lot of fun the class, can't wait to hear from you how and if you liked it.

Doesn't it feel great running outside? I didn't go because of the snow yesterday but I promised myself I won't miss a run anymore due to weather conditions!

Have fun with the preparations of the birthday party of your baby.

PS: Still reading your cards don't you?

"More runs while it's warm" .... you crack me up! That would be about 60 outside for me, but here you are in COLD temps getting a run in. LOL

Have a fun week planning the party and meeting with the girls to workout.

Love those wanna-run-forever days. And I love that you're talking about warm being 9 degrees. ;) Good luck with your new class and your houseguests!

Doesn't it feel amazing to get out in the fresh air and just run. I did the same thing yesterday. Left the watch at home (I'm too competitive for my own good) and I just ran. Planned a 10K and ended up doing 14.5. We had a clear moment in the skies so I wanted to take advantage.

The treadmill is wonderful for those days where it is just too miserable outside for running. But it does suck! I get bored SO easily on the treadmill, and I usually hurt more after a hard run on there. It's just exercise and not enjoyable.

Run, Forest, run!

Where's my invite to the 3-year-old's birthday party? That's my kinda crowd!

OMG you crack me up. You're raving about being outside and talking about slush, ice and snow and slammin' the old treadmill. I'm thinking how much I would not want to be running in those conditions and how much I love running on my treadmill. Too funny.

I will eventually have to hit the street to train honestly for the half marathon that I'm planning on doing. It 4.5 months away and I already feel like it's just around the corner. How silly, eh!

Have fun with your houseguest and planning the party. 3 was my favorite age when my girls were growing up.

Well done Syl on getting out in the snow and ice to complete 7km! I've been using the weather as an excuse not to run - but now it's all melting I have no reason not to go!! And happy birthday to your little 3yearold too - my youngest boy turned 3 in October and to be honest I dunno where the last 3 years have gone! Enjoy the celebrations!

Great job on the run - it's awesome to come home feeling like you could still give more, but still did great! Wootwoot Syl! I'm also impressed about running outside - after my two races on NYE and NYD, running in the cold is just NOT for me. LOL

Happy Birthday to your little one!
