I saw a picture of myself, and that was that. My dad passed away and it taught me that I need to take care of myself and my family. It taught me that I need to take time out for me. Because a happy mom makes a happy family.
How have I lost my weight:
I started out by doing Weight Watchers on line. I did that up till I decided I needed a break from tracking, that lasted a month. I decided that Weight Watchers was a great starting point for me but after a year of doing it I still had alot to learn. I now am doing Spark people and counting calories.
How many Calories do I eat:
I started out eating 1200 calories a day. This was not nearly enough. I adjusted my calorie intake according to my activity level, and eat any where from 1500 - 1800 calories a day.
How many times a week do I work out:
On any given week, I will work out atleast 5-6 days. I alternate this between running, workout DVD's, biking and recently have gotten into weights. My workouts are never under 1/2 hour and usually not more that 90 minutes.
How tall am I:
I am a very tall 5'4 :-)
What have I learned on this journey:
I have learned alot. I have learned that out of tragedy I have found my will to live. I have a spirit about me that just keeps me motivated and fighting.
I take pride in the fact that my family is more active and that one day when my kids have families of their own, they will take what they have learned and pass it on to their own families.
I have learned to Live, I have learned to Smile, I have learned to Run.
Has weight loss changed me as a person:
YES! I would be lying if I said no. I have found a spark. I want to get up in the morning and do the best I can till days end. I like that my friends tell me that I motivate them. I like that my husband likes the way his wife looks. I like that my kids look up to me.
But above everything, the one thing that has changed the most is that when I smile - I mean it!
Why did I start a weight loss blog:
I needed a place to come and put my feelings to paper. I started out with two readers. Through out the months people have found me and I couldn't be happier. The thought that I may have turned someones day around, or maybe something I write motivates them or they can relate to makes it worth while.
I may motivate others, but its everyone out there who stops by day after day that motivates me!
I love to receive advice and am always wanting to learn new things.
Is pink my favourite Colour?
Well....it never use to be! But as time passed and after the birth of my two boys, I was in a house filled with boys, I needed to add something "girlie" into my life...that's where the OBSESSION with pink grew and now it's just out of control :-)

I love your new blog with all the pink!
Hi Syl,
You are a real inspiration. Just came across your blog. I am a mother of two, the youngest just turned one. I am having a really difficult time shedding the weight. I too am on weight watchers, but seem to lose and gain the same few pounds. Any advice with following weight watchers? Did you stick to specific meals. I am usually withing my points range, but it doesn't seem to be affecting my weight.
Thanks,
Neha
